Realer Than Most

Everyone goes through trails n tribulations, but what sets u aside from the rest is how u handle adversity. Weather it may be you struggling to maintain a 9 to 5 to support your family, or dealing with just everyday situations that may hold you up in your life. What makes you different is how you handle the situation and overcome the hurdles at the end of the day. Situations like these made Murph the way he is today.

Originally born in Brooklyn, New York by both Jamaican parents, Murph was the youngest of 6 children. He grew up on Caton Ave. in Flatbush and began the adolescent years of his life with high hopes of one day playing professional basketball. His love for the game made him gradually become a great neighborhood all-star in the making, but besides the cold weather in the winter time, there were also cold blooded people in the area as well. When the shots fly, the aim is to kill, but bullets have no eye and as a result of that fact plenty of Murph’s friends in the early 90′s where victims of stray bullets.

At the tender age of 4, his father migrated down to sunny South Florida to pursue a career as a Real Estate agent, leaving young Murph to be the man of the house. As school began, Murph excelled in all his subjects and even managed to get himself on the honor roll, leaving his mother in belief that he would one day become a doctor, maybe a lawyer or something other than a everyday profession. Having such a bright future ahead of him and with basketball being his favorite thing to do, his surroundings still affected his modern day living.

The drive to leave the hood wasn’t mandatory until sudden deaths of Murph’s neighborhood friends caused by unnecessary violence. The distribution of drugs was becoming heavy in the neighborhood. The large abundance became unbearable to the point that, the children the community once had such high hopes for became users or dealers overnight. The transition from street ballers to street pharmacist seemed to be the trend and while the fast money came in; the drama came along with it. To avoid that lifestyle, Murph tried to keep himself devoted to playing basketball and loving the art of music. As the years progressed, the intensity of the environment forced Murph and his family to move from the beautiful city, into the sunny isles of Miramar, Florida; a developing city on the boarder line of Broward and Dade County.

Relocating to Miramar at the time was for the better, but the adjustment was much harder to deal with. The slow atmosphere had no comparison to the big city life style of Brooklyn, but the people in Miami had a similar swag to the people in New York. Everyone was devoted to the hustle. Wether it was selling candy or selling crack, regardless of the fact, they were about their money at the end of the day. Murph gradually became accustom to his surroundings. As years went on, he went astray from his academic and athletic dreams due to the overwhelming amount of negligence that was surrounding him.

The story remained the same, just in a different city. Close friends became memories or inmates in the system. In a city that plenty of people considered suburban, a lot of devastating events occurred leaving Murph to think there is no possible to escape. The life he’s been trying to avoid since an adolescent seemed to be his imminent future. As the bills got bigger and everyone in his household began to live check to check, Murph found his own way to many money. He attempted to get a 9-5 but for him that wasn’t enough. The only desire he had was to get his family in a better situation. So with that being said, he hustled out of desperation. Forced into a life of crime, Murph did what he had to do to survive. Droughts came and went, but the obsession of knowing that you could clutch another dollar by hand to hand movements kept him at float. Though the game changed, the tribulations stayed the same.

With pending cases on his head and the pressure of possibly becoming another statistic, Murph motivated himself to a new and improved hustle. His lifetime experiences drove him to the direction to making music, something he could honestly say he never thought of doing. Though everyone seems to all of a sudden become rappers overnight, they still cannot match up to the elite and unique style that Murph possesses. Murph believes originality is the key, along with staying humble and consistent. With that philosophy in mind Murph strives to keep every word on his tracks as real as possible so the listeners can experience his rhymes like they’ve walked in his shoes. For Murph music didn’t just become a way out of the hood, it was more like therapy. Everyone that honestly can respect real music, should be able to accept him as and artist and as an individual. So with that being said, let’s have sit down and take a dose, because what the world is about to witness is nothing far fetched, and he will always keep it REALER THAN MOST.
